“I don’t go to races to beat people. I go to win over myself. However, the necessity of the race is somewhat undeniable. Only in a racing atmosphere do I reach the threshold, when head and body push their limits.”

RADOSLAV “RADAR” GROH
An excellent runner, ski alpinist and climber, he started out on medium and long distances, on which he became a multiple champion of the Czech Republic in the junior categories. He has a number of representative starts at the World and European Championships in hill running. He moved from the athletic ovals to disciplines that are tied to his love for the mountains and the irresistible feeling of freedom when moving in them. In recent years, Radek has been mainly engaged in mountain climbing. In September 2016, he and Jindra Hudeček made the first Czech winter ascent of Fitz Roy in Patagonia. Two summers later, together with six other Czech climbers, he stood on the top of Pakistan’s 8,000-meter Nanga Parbat, the ninth highest mountain in the world at 8,125 meters. Since then, he has made several successful first ascents in the world’s high mountains (the White Cordillera, the Himalayas), e.g. in 2022 together with Zdenek Hák on the as yet unclimbed Himalayan mountain Chumbu. So far, the last station was an attempt to make the first ascent of the highest yet unclimbed mountain in the world, which is not subject to religious restrictions – Muchu Chhish (7453m). After several promising attempts, the climbers were forced to give up in front of the majestic mountain and return home unscathed.
